In October the team of Athena Research Center successfully completed a digitisation campaign at the Benaki Museum, focusing on the preservation and digital documentation of historical textiles.
Using advanced photogrammetry techniques, the team captured high-resolution images of selected fabrics with a Sony a6000 camera and a Laowa 65mm macro lens. The process was conducted under controlled lighting conditions, with a motorised slider and photographic markers ensuring precision and accurate scaling.
The resulting 3D models will support the development of AI-based tools for the documentation, analysis, and conservation of textile heritage within the TEXTaiLES project, contributing to
