On July 8, 2025, the TEXTaiLES consortium gathered for its second general assembly, hosted in the inspiring setting of Pompeii, Italy.
Organised by Sapienza Università di Roma, the one-day meeting marked an important milestone, reflecting on the project’s progress during its first ten months and setting the course for the next phase of activities.
A Collaborative Milestone
Surrounded by the remarkable archaeological heritage of Pompeii, partners from across Europe came together to review achievements, exchange ideas, and strengthen their collaboration. The discussions focused on recent research outcomes, upcoming demonstrations, and strategies to further enhance the project’s impact on AI-driven textile heritage preservation.
The meeting provided an invaluable opportunity to align efforts across technical, scientific, and communication work packages, ensuring a shared vision for the months ahead.
Advancing Heritage Through Digital Innovation
TEXTaiLES continues to bring together expertise from cultural heritage institutions, research centres, and technology partners to explore how artificial intelligence, 3D digitisation, and semantic data modelling can transform the preservation and interpretation of Europe’s rich textile heritage.
A Warm Thank You
The consortium extends its sincere gratitude to Sapienza Università di Roma for its warm hospitality and flawless organisation. The inspiring atmosphere of Pompeii served as a powerful reminder of the enduring connection between heritage, history, and innovation — a connection that lies at the heart of TEXTaiLES.
