This tool develops an intelligent interactive digital restoration assistant to support archaeologists and conservators to explore and visualize potential restorations of CH textile artefacts. The tool is enabled by generative AI models that digitally synthesize images through user guidance. The models will be adapted to enable restoration of damaged, faded, or physically lost textile areas based on visual references and text prompts selected by human experts. The tool does not require technical expertise to interact with. End users will interact with the tool by providing guidelines, contributing metadata in the form of: (a) drawing annotations, e.g., to mask an area of interest, (b) textual descriptions, to provide descriptive context that will condition the generative process, (c) adding images, such as layout sketches or style references, to provide visual context that the model should consider.
